September Fest / Fall CPA - posted 8/29/2010

All,

I can't believe that Labor Day is a week away! That means that SeptemberFest is a week away, too. Our Volunteer Chairperson, Alice Burnette, will be reaching out to our faithful volunteers to help run the Schaumburg Police Department booth. I hope the rest of our Alumni stop by to say hello and enjoy the festivities.

Also, I'd like all of our Alumni consider marching in the parade on Monday (9/6) with us. You will need to wear your CPAAAS/CPA polo shirts and black/dark shorts/slacks. We will be handing out candy to the children along the parade route, which is my favorite part!

The parade kicks off at 10am so plan to get in line between 9:30-9:45am. We are usually positioned in front of the fire trucks at the beginning of the parade. So practice your hand waving and come join us in the parade march. It's a lot of fun!!

The SPD will be holding its Fall 2010 Citizens' Police Academy which begins on September 29 at 6:30p and runs through December 8. I'm sure you remember how awesome your class was that you attended so get the word out to your friends, family and neighbors and have them sign up. Applications will be on hand at the SPD booth during SeptemberFest, on the Village website and at the SPD.

I hope to see you at the Fest and that you have a safe and wonderful holiday weekend!

Mary

Open BOD Meeting- posted 8/29/2010

CPAAAS
Open BOD Meeting - meeting agenda now available
August 9 @ 7 pm
Schaumburg Police Department – Class Room

Volunteerism I am very pleased and proud that CPAAAS has an abundance of volunteers who continuously give of their time and energy whenever called upon. Last month, the Volunteer Committee and the BOD met to discuss how we can best serve all of our dedicated volunteers in a fair and efficient manner. To that end, we will be constructing/implementing new CPAAAS volunteer procedures. This will be a work in progress and I respectfully ask for your patience.

I am requesting that ALL CPAAAS volunteers be present at our Open BOD meeting on Monday as there are two procedures that must be followed by ALL CPAAAS volunteers effective immediately.

I look forward to an open group discussion to hear your constructive ideas, comments and suggestions.

*SEPTEMBERFEST* Speaking of volunteering, the SPD will once again be depending on CPAAAS to help them run their booth this year on Labor Day weekend, 9/4-6. That's only a month away. We will need about 36-40 volunteers to sign up for multiple shifts/days so everyone will have a chance to volunteer for this assignment.

*SEPTEMBERFEST PARADE* CPAAAS will be marching in this year's parade on Labor Day morning. All Alumni are welcome and encouraged to walk together as a group in the parade. The only requirements are that you wear your white CPAAAS polo/sweat shirt and dark shorts/slacks and name badge. I will be sending out email reminders in the coming weeks before Labor Day. Your homework assignment for the parade march is: practice smiling and waving!

Peanut Butter Ok, so bringing in one specific item worked last month. Woohoo!! Thanks for all the cans of tuna!! This month its peanut butter! I would like everyone to buy just 1 jar of peanut butter for the Food Pantry and bring it to our meeting on the 9th. If you're able to, go ahead and buy some jelly to go with it.

50/50 Raffle The 50/50 Raffle tickets will be sold for $1 each or 6 for $5. During our meeting, the winning ticket will be selected and the winner will receive 50% of the money raised. This month, the other 50% raised will be deposited in the CPAAAS Angel Fund. Winner MUST be present. Last month's winner was Gayle Nissen who took home $38!

Tuesday, August 3rd, is also National Night Out. Some neighborhoods are hosting block/club house parties and events; however, be sure to print off a coupon, because it's still…

Tuna Unfortunately, once again our food donations have dwindled down to almost nothing. So I'm thinking of trying something different. I would like everyone to buy just 1 can of tuna for the Food Pantry and bring it to our meeting on the 22nd. Let's get a whole bag full of tuna. I know we can do it!
