Word from the President…February 2010

Alumni,

As another new year has begun, I would like to inform everyone that in 2009, CPAAAS accomplished a lot!  We participated in many volunteer events, welcomed great guest speakers, made dsonations to worthy causes and raised money for the Angel Fund.

The following are some of the accomplishments and events that our Alumni participated in:

January-CPAAAS obtains file cabinet/cubicle at SPD; CPAAAS Buddy program implemented
February-SPD Rapid Deployment at Motorola; Carson Community Day; VIP implemented
March-Pilot Pete’s Benefit Night
April-Earth Day at District 54; Emerald Village; CPAAAS BOD Elections; ILEETA Conference; Schaumburg Township Volunteer Award Dinner

November-Carson Community Day
December-SWAC; Adopt a Family; Christmas Wrap Party; Jewel Shop & Share

Thank you all for your dedication and involvement in all the CPAAAS events last year.  I anticipate that 2010 will be just as busy for our members, if not more so.

Last February, I informed everyone that we would be implementing a new Volunteer Incentive Program (VIP).  A lot of CPAAAS members stepped up to the plate last year and gave a lot of their time by volunteering for our community and the Schaumburg Police Department.  Our Volunteer Committee designed and implemented a good record keeping program of all volunteer hours worked during the year.

Our records show that in 2009, 41 CPAAAS volunteers worked 558 total hours.  The top five volunteers were recently given a Certificate of Appreciation Award and a Starbucks gift card.  We have also been given the go ahead to display a CPAAAS Volunteer of the Year plaque in the police department that will list the names of the #1 Volunteer of each year moving forward.  The winner for 2009 is Tom Conaway.  Congratulations, Tom!  Thanks to all our dedicated volunteers!!

CPAAAS is once again in good standing with the State of Illinois.  Due to a lapse in the filing of official paper work with the State in 2006, our non-profit status was suspended for a period of time.  Our Treasurer, Ken Marshall, worked diligently for months to get our non-profit status reinstated.

Our January Dues Campaign was a success.  We currently have 60 dues-paying members for 2010.  In April, we will have two Board of Director positions available for anyone who is interested in applying; Vice President and Corresponding Secretary.  Please contact me as soon as possible if you would like more information.

With your continued support and participation, I am anticipating another great year for CPAAAS in 2010!  Please continue to visit our website regularly for all CPAAAS news, schedules and events.
