Hi Everybody,
Wow, do you realize that Christmas is three months from today? It’s shocking, I know, but we need to start planning!
Once again CPAAAS will be participating in our Holiday Adopt-A-Family program to help make Christmas special for others in need. We need start looking for those special families within our community to adopt this year; therefore, I need to know how many of you would like to participate. This program is purely voluntary and all gifts are purchased by you.
How many families and children we adopt this year will depend on how many alumni participate. As in past years, we will divide the alumni into teams and assign a family to each team so that the shopping may begin. We will conclude the program with a “wrap” party.
Please respond to Mary as soon as possible to advise if you would like to sign up to be on a team.
Thank you,
Mary Ghilardi

The agenda for the August meeting is now available.
Our guest speaker will be Jean Schlinkmann who works for the Schaumburg Park District since 1981 and is currently its Executive Director since 2004. She represents the park district on the board of the Northwest Special Recreation Association and Village of Schaumburg’s Business Development Commission. Jean serves on the board of the Greater Woodfield Chicago Northwest Convention Bureau and is the President of the Schaumburg Park Foundation. She is a board member of the Schaumburg Business Association.
Food Pantry At our last Open Board meeting, it was suggested that we once again try to bring food donations to all future CPAAAS meetings. I have called our Township Pantry and the following items that are currently needed the most are: Kleenex, toilet paper, canned pasta (such as Spaghettio’s and Raviolio’s), dry pasta, spaghetti sauce, peanut butter and jelly, hamburger helper and all kinds of rice. If possible, please bring your food donations in paper bags. Thanks!
A Nice Surprise Well, it’s a surprise, so I’m not going to tell you about it now. You’ll have to show up to the meeting to find out what it is. All I’ll say is that it’s very special so I hope that you’ll all attend to offer your support. Hmmm…what could it be?
Family Food Day at Village Tavern & Grill for CPAAAS is set for October 4, 2009 to raise money for the Angel Fund. Please pass out the flyer attached to EVERYONE so that we raise lots of money. Hand them out at church, work, health clubs, social gatherings, school activities and anywhere else you can think of, EXCEPT the Village Tavern & Grill parking lot!!
Shop & Share Days at Jewel are back, hopefully. I’ve applied for three fund raisers and am waiting to hear back from Jewel. With any luck our next CPAAAS Shop & Share days will be scheduled for September 29, 30 & October 1. Slips should be available at the September 24th meeting. Please pick up a bunch and hand them out to everyone you know!!!
The next Citizen Police Academy class begins October 7th. Attached is an application for you to pass along to your family, friends and co-workers who may be interested in attending the new CPA class. Although the CPA class is intended for those who live or work in Schaumburg, I’m sure Sgt. Nebl will consider making exceptions. Of course, all Alumni are welcome to attend the first night of class, so please plan on being there. We’ll also need some volunteers to assist the new students in finding their way to the class room.
September Fest CPAAAS Volunteers were awesome! Sgt. Nebl wanted me to extend his sincere gratitude to all the volunteers for helping the SPD throughout the Labor Day weekend. He said that they couldn’t have done it without CPAAAS’ help and dedication. We did a great job. Thanks to all the volunteers to gave up their time to man the police booth and walk in the parade. |
