Greetings:

Latest CPAAAS News

Earlier, I shared with you that Paula Emerson, of the Schaumburg Police Department, is looking for CPAAAS members to help the “Meals on Wheels” program on Saturday mornings. I have more details. The Saturday morning shift is typically around two hours. Paula does not expect to have individuals commit to a long term assignment. Rather, if you are available on any given Saturday or a series of Saturdays, call Paula at the police station with your availability. She will take it from there. Her number is 1-847-348-7274

Many thanks to Pamela Nelson, who has been the CPAAAS newsletter editor for the past two years. Pamela is resigning after putting the final touches on the October newsletter. CPAAAS is looking for an individual to take Pamela’s place as newsletter editor. The newsletter is distributed four times a year. The editor serves as a clearing house for CPAAAS information/event details/etc. and then packages the information in a newsletter format. Gary Clair then receives the newsletter, takes it to the printer, and has it copied. He then mails the newsletter to dues paying members via first class mail.

Cheryl Channic was the featured speaker last night at the CPAAAS General Meeting. She was excellent! The fourteen CPAAAS members in attendance were treated to a wealth of information on the best ways to thwart identity thieves and also were able to learn if the State of Illinois had any of their money. One CPAAAS member learned that there was indeed money in Springfield for her to claim.

You will receive via email today, the form to use when you remit your 2007 CPAAAS dues. Thank you for your continued membership.

Sincerely,

Gary Clair

Correspondence Secretary

Greetings:

The next Fuddruckers (Golf Road) social gathering will be on Tuesday,November 7, at 6:30 p.m.

The November 11th Open Board Meeting has been canceled.

Request from Paula Emerson at the Schaumburg Police Department:

I was wondering if you could help me. Kiran from the Senior Center is looking for a volunteer or two to assist her with delivering some 'Meals on Wheels on Saturdays beginning at 8:30. I believe she only needs 2 volunteers each day. If anyone is interested, could you have them call me so I can let her know? 1-847-348-7274 pemerson@ci.schaumburg.il.us

The next general meeting will be in five days (October 26th at 7 p.m.). Cheryl Channic, of the state treasurer’s office, will present on the topic of identity theft.

Mary Passaglia, from Code Enforcement, will be the presenter at our November 16th General meeting.

CPAAAS will be collecting paper food certificates (Jewel, Dominick’s, etc.) from all who care to participate. These certificates will be provided to needy families in the area just before Thanksgiving. These food store certificates can be given to CPAAAS at any of the upcoming meetings or mailed to CPAAAS, P.O. Box 681003, Schaumburg 60168.

Carson Community Day will be Saturday, November 11th. This year CPAAAS will not be working at the store. The coupon books sell for five dollars each and can be purchased from Jan Richardson at any of the upcoming meetings. You may call Jan at 1-630-872-8719 to order coupon books. Each book contains, among other values, a ten dollar coupon and other savings ranging from 8-20 percent. CPAAAS needs to sell a minimum of fifty books.

Shop with a Cop will be on Sunday, December 3rd.

Sincerely,

Gary Clair, CPAAAS Secretary
