General Meeting - April 24, 2003 (posted on 5/2/2003)

Our general meeting was April 24, 2003 at 7PM at the Schaumburg Police Department.

A presentation was given by the Director of Public Relations and the Marketing Coordinator for the DuPage Airport. We learned that the DuPage airport is the 3rd busiest in Illinois with 200000 takeoffs and landings every year. They give free tours and we are going to try and arrange one for CPAAAS. Did you know that every 6 seconds a plane takes off or lands somewhere over Chicago?

Elections were also held. Check out our new Board Members (this is also on the "Current Board Members" page):

Ron Richey - Treasurer
Maureen Gilhooly - Recording Secretary

Congratulations to the new board members!

Maria Storm and Bob Pautsch from Motorola, Inc. gave a brief presentation on the history of two-way radios, followed by an overview of the new Village of Schaumburg communications system being installed in 2003. The new system provides state-of-the-art equipment for the police department, fire department, and public works. The new system will provide increased capacity, improved coverage, and much-needed integration between information systems.

An overview graphic of the new system can be seen here.

Thanks (once again) to everyone who brought items for the Township Food Pantry!
